Iron Composer (3rd Annual!) in Cleveland (Berea), OH
We recently heard from Dolf Kamper, whose ANALOG arts ensemble is teaming up with Baldwin-Wallace College on October 2nd to present their 3rd annual "Iron Composer" Instant Composition Contest. He writes, "This is an event where we have five finalist composers come in in the morning, where we reveal the instrumentation for which they'll be writing and a "Secret Ingredient." The competing composers then have about 6 hours to write a piece for the ensemble using the Secret Ingredient in a musical way. The pieces are rehearsed for 20min each, then performed that evening, with a panel of judges and an award given the same night."

If you can't make it to Cleveland, the event will be broadcast live (including live streaming on the web!) by WCLV, (http://www.wclv.com) the radio station of the Cleveland Orchestra.
